Attachment technique in dental restorations

Attachment technique joins two kinds of restoration: a fixed part anchored on the patient's own teeth, and a removable part that clicks into it.

Without visible clasps

The remaining teeth are crowned. One part of the connection is worked into these crowns, the counterpart sits in the denture. The two engage like tongue and groove. From the outside nothing of this is visible – unlike the metal clasps of a simple partial denture.

Merits and effort

The hold is firm, the forces are spread evenly, and the removable part can be taken out for cleaning – an advantage precisely where the gums are sensitive. In return, making it is elaborate and it calls for healthy, well-anchored abutment teeth.
